The launch of this website marks an exciting milestone, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I wanted to take this opportunity to share a bit about the project, the challenges I faced, and the incredible experience of working with Jack, the owner of Jack Seed Co.

The Project: JackSeedCo.com

JackSeedCo.com is an e-commerce website for Jack Seed Co., a cannabis and hemp seed breeding farm based in Michigan, USA. The company is dedicated to breeding cannabis and hemp seeds to preserve the quality of the species for humanity to enjoy growing​. The seeds sold on the website contain less than 0.3% THC, making them compliant with current hemp regulations in the US.

As a web designer and developer, I was tasked with building a custom WordPress theme based on WooCommerce to facilitate the e-commerce functionality of the website. I also implemented a few custom functions to enhance the user experience and meet the specific needs of Jack Seed Co.

The Design: Bringing Jack’s Vision to Life

One of the most enjoyable aspects of this project was the design process. I worked closely with Jack to create a website that not only showcases the company’s products, such as the “Michigan OG” hybrid, but also reflects the brand’s ethos and mission. The design features a clean and modern layout with a focus on visual elements, including vibrant images and videos of the farm.

In terms of color choices, I opted for a palette that complements the natural tones of the farm and the products. The color scheme creates a sense of warmth and approachability, which aligns with Jack Seed Co.’s commitment to preserving the quality of cannabis and hemp species.

As a fun coincidence, the website went live on April 20th (4/20), which is a date commonly associated with cannabis culture. This added an extra layer of excitement to the launch, and it was a pleasure to see the website go live on such a fitting day.

One of the highlights of this project was working with Jack, the owner of Jack Seed Co. I was introduced to Jack through a mutual friend, Niko, who I often take photography trips with. As a developer and photographer, I have always been excited about exploring new ways to blend technology and creativity. Recently, I came across an article that got me thinking about a whole new approach to generating images. The quote that particularly caught my attention was:

“Copilot has dramatically accelerated my coding, it’s hard to imagine going back to ‘manual coding’. Still learning to use it but it already writes ~80% of my code, ~80% accuracy. I don’t even really code, I prompt. & edit.” [1]

This got me wondering if a similar approach could be applied to the images I create. What if I could use my own images to regenerate new versions, all while maintaining the essence of the originals? I already use these tools to help me in coding – so why not?

This is the story of my creative journey and how I leveraged the power of prompting and editing to breathe new life into my photographs.

Selecting the Images:

To start this adventure, I decided to pick two images from my side project website, ChiStockImages.com. The first one was a photo of a blurry green grass yard, an image that captured the essence of nature in an urban setting. The second was a stunning shot of the Chicago skyline, showcasing the architectural marvels of the Windy City.

Choosing the Prompts:

The next challenge was to come up with prompts that would work well with the two chosen images. This process involved a lot of introspection and a deep understanding of the images themselves. I wanted the prompts to not only bring out the best in the images, but also to trigger a sense of curiosity and wonder in the viewers’ minds.

For the blurry green grass yard, I decided to focus on the concept of nature reclaiming urban spaces. This idea provided an interesting contrast between the organic and the man-made, allowing me to experiment with various visual elements.

For the Chicago skyline, I aimed to accentuate the grandeur of the city while adding a touch of surrealism. I wanted the viewers to feel as if they were witnessing a familiar sight, but with a twist that made them question their perception of reality.
